Instruction to AI: A busy house party with lots of male and female guests laughing around a table full of canapes on the theme of crime and murder. There are also waiters walking amidst the guests, carrying trays of finger food with a murder theme, eg mushrooms to look like skulls and hot dogs to look like severed fingers

54. Monday 30 March 2026

I’m on fire! I edited yesterday and today and have stopped at page 185 of 207 as it’s a significant chapter which is pretty much entirely covered in highlighted chunks and scribbled notes. I even had time to be happily distracted thinking of party food for a crime-themed canape party. How could such a party not feature ketchup?!

Another reason I stopped before attempting the next chapter is that it’s the only chapter where the voice is a very unpleasant man and I think my early attempts to sound like him haven’t worked. I may have to tidy it up tomorrow but return to it in version 7.

I’m satisfied with my progress and glad I worked on it over the weekend. I don’t feel I lost momentum by having what ended up being only one day off last week (Thursday).

There is no other news other than that I’m slowly working my way through the old BBC adaptation of Middlemarch, which I’m thoroughly enjoying. Prior to that I watched Sense & Sensibility from a similar era. I don’t know there are many actors nowadays who could look Jane Austen-y (ie botox, shape, surgical enhancements) and HD really doesn’t work for me when it comes to period drama.

I don't even have any sourdough on the go.
