I finished going through my highlighted printout for version 6! I did feel pleased but it also felt mildly underwhelming, maybe in part because, of the nine pages I had left to edit, about five of them I didn’t really edit, ie that section needs a proper rewrite. I highlighted almost all of that chapter with a view to coming back to it. It felt a bit like I was cheating. I don’t know if I wasn’t in the right frame of mind to try rewriting it or I was being lazy for merely reading it and thinking how much needed changing or I just wanted to get to the end before going out. However, it is good to have finished and I’m even kind of looking forward to going back over the many highlighted sections.
I needed to take the car in for new tyres and to pick Chris up from Galashiels, so I had a deadline. I also wanted to write a letter to a friend just back from six months overseas (we regularly write letters to each other and this was the first tangible letter in over six months as we’ve been sending them as attachments since she’s been away). Anyway, point being I wanted to get that written and posted today while I was out and because I had the 3pm tyre appointment as a time constraint, that’s how I made sure to finish editing before going out.
In other news, sourdough starter ready for use.
I treated myself to coffee and cake in Selkirk (blackberry mascarpone cake, yums!) … well, I’d have had it even if I weren’t rewarding myself for finishing this edit!
Lambs are born later up here than down south. On the drive today, I saw a lot of very, very tiny newborn lambs. Cuteness overload. There were also some miniscule calves. The only mini animal I got to photograph clearly was this Clydesdale foal. The mare and foal approached me for strokes. I love the local Clydesdales, they’re such beautiful and friendly horses.
